Property Description

This 0.22-acre property would be the perfect spot for that weekend getaway any time of the year.

The Emerald Lake Village District (“ELVD”) within the Town of Hillsborough, was established in 1979 for the community surrounding Emerald Lake, also known as Gould Pond. Originally a subdivision of seasonal homes, it has developed into primary homes for the majority of its residents. ELVD through a Board of Commissioners manages the well based water system, the beaches, and recreational areas, and approximately fourteen miles of roads.  ELVD is also a community of people who enjoy the unique advantage of their own lake and beaches, as well as the proximity of Fox Forest, Pat’s Peak for skiing, and access to the shopping and dining available in Hillsborough, while located close to Concord in the southwest part of New Hampshire.

Fox State Forest (4.5 miles) was gifted to the State of New Hampshire by Caroline A. Fox in 1932 to maintain a research and demonstration station in Hillsborough. The Fox Forest Trust has provided funds to demonstrate proper scientific forestry, provide areas for applied forest research, provide programs on natural resource management, and develop a forest for public access and use. The forest encompasses 1,445 acres, the Henry I. Baldwin Forestry Education Center and a farmhouse/Headquarters. There is a well-developed trail system of about 22 miles that receive heavy, year-round use by hikers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, hunters and mountain bikers.

Chef Sean Burt realized his life-long dream of owning his own restaurant when in 1999 he opened Tooky Mills Pub and Restaurant (3.7 miles). Since then, “Tooky’s” has become such a fixture in downtown Hillsborough that it seems like we’ve been here forever.  Intervale Farm Pancake House (6.8 miles) opened their more than 30 years ago in Henniker, New Hampshire. They have been serving pancakes, waffles, eggs, and coffee from the same place on Flanders Road since that first day. Stop by and have breakfast with friends and family and become one of the regulars yourself! Enjoy delicious food by the Grazing Room (4.4 miles), Monthly Wine Dinners, Private Dining, Holiday Menus, Breakfasts, Takeout, and Bakery Orders. Bruce Barnes is a celebrated chef for The Grazing Room who has led all culinary operations at the World Bank in Washington, DC and owned two successful East Village restaurants. The Grazing Room is already receiving outstanding reviews and accolades for his expert culinary execution and varied menus.

Deering Wildlife Sanctuary (6.5 miles) – In 1979, longtime conservationist and Audubon friend Ruth Crary Young donated 485 acres of her land to the Society after she accepted Audubon’s wildlife habitat management proposal. The gift was accompanied by an endowment to help support the basic maintenance of the property, which enables Audubon to fulfill its stewardship obligation and ensure the continued protection and preservation of this wildlife habitat for the enjoyment and enrichment of future generations.

Shopping anyone – top names are at these outlet malls: Tanger Outlets (45.9 miles), Merrimack Premium Outlets (51 miles), and Kittery Premium Outlets, Maine (82.3 miles).

Maybe you’d like to take in some history at The Franklin Pierce Homestead (6.7 miles). Franklin Pierce Homestead was the home of the 14th president of the United States from his infancy until his marriage in 1834. The Pierce Homestead is a fine example of New Hampshire village architecture. It is a two-story frame building with a hipped roof. Built by Pierce’s father in 1804, it reflects the gracious and affluent living of the nineteenth century. A ballroom, which extends the entire length of the second floor, was used for entertaining neighbors and distinguished families of the state and nation. Franklin Pierce shared Daniel Webster’s dedication to national unity and led our country during the most trying of times, the time of slavery. Private tours & large group tours can be arranged.

The nearest hospital is Monadnock Community Hospital, which is only 22.6 miles from the property.
