A 41-Acre Legacy of Land and Luxury in Ukiah, California Nestled in the heart of the Talmage Bench, a premier wine-growing region in the Ukiah Valley, the 41-acre Aina Vineyard at 2401, 2300, and 2250 Twining Road, Ukiah, California, embodies the Hawaiian essence of ‘Aina’—a profound connection between land and family, where reverence for the earth yields sustenance and serenity. This extraordinary estate, perched on the western slope of Cow Mountain, offers a rare blend of viticultural excellence, luxurious living, and natural splendor, making it a haven for those who seek both legacy and lifestyle. A Viticultural Masterpiece Spanning 41 acres across three legal parcels, Aneyard boasts 32 plantable acres with 27+ acres currently planted and a storied history of grape cultivation. At its highest peak, remnants of 7x7 Zinfandel plantings from the late 19th century whisper tales of a bygone era. Later in 1933, the Guidi Family enriched the land with more Zinfandel and also Grenache, Petite Syrah, and Carignane grapes, which were dry-farmed until the 1960s when Richard and Donna Mattern introduced irrigation. Today, a new state-of-the-art drip system, powered by a substantial 90 GPM agriculture well, nurtures the vines. The vineyard’s western-facing slopes, kissed by optimal sun and wind exposure, create an ideal microclimate, with gentle airflow reducing mildew and frost while bathing the grapes in golden sunlight. A four-year-old propane frost protection motor and an electric motor for small block irrigation ensure the vineyard thrives in harmony with nature. In 2024, John and Inger Mattern, the third generation to work the land, began a new era replacing some of the older vines with new (but still Old World) Italian and French varietals including a PicPoul Blanc, Fiano, Ribolla Gialla and Piedirosso. In total there are over 27 acres planted with 23 acres being farmed organically and 4.5 acres farm under conventional standards comprising 9 acres of Zinfandel, 14 of Petite Syrah & 4.5 of Old World Varietals. The Farmhouse: A Resort-Like Retreat At the heart of the estate lies an 1,800-square-foot farmhouse, a charming 3-bedroom, 2-bath sanctuary that blends rustic elegance with modern comforts. Grid and solar-powered, the home is as sustainable as it is inviting. Step into the backyard, and you’re transported to a resort-like oasis. A sparkling swimming pool, accompanied by a hot tub, beckons for leisurely afternoons or grand entertaining. Beyond the pool, the view unfolds in breathtaking majesty: Aina Lake, a vibrant ecosystem teeming with turtles, herons, egrets, red-tailed hawks, Canadian geese, and ducks, framed by towering cottonwoods. Anglers will delight in the lake’s abundance of large-mouth bass, while the serene vista offers a daily dose of tranquility. Endless Possibilities Across Three Parcels With three legal parcels, Aina Vineyard offers unparalleled flexibility for expansion, whether envisioning additional homesites, guest retreats, event venue, or bespoke amenities. A guest cottage, currently a music studio, sits gracefully by the lake, while a brand-new, fully insulated 1,400-square-foot metal workshop (35x40) provides ample space for projects or storage. A horse barn adds equestrian appeal, and an orchard of 80-90 olive trees, sycamores, crepe myrtles, and fruit trees infuses the landscape with color and bounty. The Rogina Water District ensures reliable domestic water, complementing the vineyard’s robust well. A Legacy of Land and Lifestyle Aina Vineyard is more than a property—it’s a legacy rooted in the reciprocal bond between people and the land. Its mild, rolling terrain, vibrant wildlife, and meticulously tended vines create a sanctuary where nature and luxury intertwine. Whether you’re drawn to the art of winemaking, the allure of a private retreat, or the promise of a multigenerational estate, Aina Vineyard offers a canvas for your vision. Here, the land is family, and its care ensures a lifetime of beauty, bounty, and belonging.
