Wagner Ranch

Wagner Ranch is 1,295+/- acres of excellent pasture just north of the town of Thornton, Wyoming. This ranch has excellent access being one mile off Highway 16, bordering Wagner Road. Region & Climate This area is known for short summers, with the occasional rain shower in the afternoon. Gillette is a dry climate. History Gillette, Wyoming, became a town in 1982 as a temporary base camp for the Burlington and Missouri Railroad. Engineer Edward Gillette was in charge of surveying the area. Edward shortened the route by 5 miles and 30 bridges. The Lincoln Land and Livestock Company planned the town and sold the lots.  The town was a success, with ranchers, cowboys, and homesteaders trying to make a life in the countryside surrounding the town. Cattlemen drove their herds through the historic town for sale and transportation to markets back east. Location This ranch is 49 Miles east of Gillette WY and 17 miles west of Sundance WY. Gillette- Campbell County Airport is 56 miles west of the ranch. Rapid City Regional Airport is 1.5 hours east of Sundance. This ranch is only 68 miles west of Sturgis, South Dakota.
