Region & Climate

Located on the high plains of Eastern Colorado, Calhan has a semi-arid climate with warm summers and cool winters. Total annual precipitation is 15 to 18 inches. It averages 35 to 50 inches of snowfall annually.  Calhan boasts around 300 days of sunshine annually. Activities include the El Paso County Fair, Rodeo,  and IMCA car racing at the El Paso County Raceway.

Calhan is located 35 miles north east of Colorado Springs and the Colorado Springs Airport. Amenities at Calhan include a livestock sale barn, many churches, schools, restaurants, gas station, the El Paso County Fairgrounds and Raceway, grocery store and dollar store.
