Chavez Valley Creek Ranch

Located approximately 20± miles from Chama, New Mexico, Chavez Valley Creek Ranch encompasses 695± deeded acres of high-country grazing, trout water, and productive wildlife habitat. Situated in New Mexico Game Management Unit 4, the ranch ranges from approximately 9,960 to 10,320 feet in elevation and features nearly 4,000± feet of Chavez Creek, additional tributary streams, and a comfortable seasonal cabin. Nearly 6± miles of private access behind a locked gate provide a secluded setting overlooking the Brazos Valley.

The ranch’s high-country landscape is well suited for summer grazing, wildlife, and seasonal recreation. Overlooking the Brazos Valley approximately 3.8± miles away, its gated setting and nearly six miles of private access provide substantial separation from surrounding communities and public roads.

Year-round access is not available; however, the ranch can generally be utilized approximately eight to ten months of the year, providing an extended season for grazing, fishing, hunting, and recreation.

Nearly 4,000± feet of Chavez Creek crosses the property, complemented by approximately 5,000± additional feet of tributary streams feeding the creek. Together, these waters provide approximately 1.7± miles of creek and tributary frontage and support a productive cold-water trout fishery across the ranch.

Located in New Mexico Game Management Unit 4, the ranch receives multiple landowner elk permits annually. Bulls commonly scoring in the 320- to 330-inch range have been found on the property, further supporting the ranch’s established reputation as an elk hunting property.

The ranch is also situated along a major elk migration corridor from Colorado. As hunting seasons progress, migrating elk move into the area, supplementing the animals already utilizing the ranch and surrounding high country.

Despite its secluded setting, Chavez Valley Creek Ranch is approximately 20± miles from Chama, New Mexico, providing access to the services and amenities of one of northern New Mexico’s established mountain communities. Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is approximately 64± miles to the north.
