Dawt Mill history–
Dawt was the last operating Grist Mill in Ozark County and was operated under different ownership from the late 1892  to 2006.  Dawt also had a Post Office from 1907-1934.  In the 1920s there were stores, a blacksmith, Hotel, and church established.  The present mill was built in 1909 by Alva Hodgson.
Currently, Dawt is open seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day and offers a General Store, restaurant, bar with floating available year round, nightly cabins, and a conference room.

Glade Top Trail: The Glade Top Trail is Missouri’s only National Forest Scenic Byway. Located in the Mark Twain National Forest the 23-mile trail weaves through narrow ridge tops above the surrounding rolling countryside. Along the trail are seven overlook “pull-outs” that provide panoramic views that reach to the Springfield Plateau twenty miles to the northwest and forty miles south to the Boston Mountains in Arkansas

 

Hiking: Caney Mountain, over 7,000 acres ready to be explored. The Caney Mountain Conservation Area area contains high quality forest, woodland, glades, and browse plots. Facilities/features: firearms and archery ranges, Caney Mountain Natural Area (1,330 acres). Interpretive nature programs are held at various times during the year.
