Land

The ranch is defined by great diversity, including beautiful rock formations, mountainous sage brush parks, Large Poderosa Pines, Douglas fir draws, and pinions and junipers with a few stands of aspen. The ranch is easy to navigate with a well developed trail and road system. The panoramic views are stunning ,with views of Dry Fork Canyon, Deep Creek Valley, and the Uintah Mountain range. Locked gates provide privacy. Multiple springs and three ponds provide water for livestock and wildlife. The West Little Mountain Grazing allotment is attached to the  deeded Ground as indicated in mapping.

Recreation

Located in Northeastern Utah the ranch qualifies for landowner elk and deer tags. The late season has over the counter elk tags available.  Hunting is top Notch.  Elk, Deer, Moose, Bear, Mountain lions, Bobcats, and small game  either live on the ranch or visit it. Mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, ATV and UTV riding is at your doorstep. The 1,.2 Million acre Ashley National Forest is minutes away. Fishing in multiple reservoirs within an hour and the  92 mile long Flaming Gorge Reservoir is 1 1/2 hours away. It is known for it’s world class fishing.  Below the dam is a Blue Ribbon Trout River with 22,000 trout per mile for several miles. Dinosaur National Monument is less than an hour away .

Seasonal grazing for cattle has historically been done on the ranch.

Vernal is a regional hub and is home to  Regional offices for the Division of Wildlife, The Ashley national Forest,  and The  BLM.   The area has 4 distinct seasons with Temperatures in the summer months are in the 80’s and 90’s for highs with low humidity and the winters feature snow and average temperatures in the 30’s and low 40’s for highs.

History

The ranch has been in the same family for over 90 years and this is the first time it has been on the market for sale.
Dry Fork Settlement was established in 1878. Dry Fork is best known for its incredible ancient history and archaeological significance. Hundreds of striking Petroglyphs carved and painted by the Fremont culture between 500 and 1300 AD  are displayed at the McConkie Ranch ranch.
