Region & Climate

The Kenai peninsula often referred to as Alaskas Playground, is one of the more temperate regions with traditionally warmer winters with a smaller snow pack compared to the interior regions. History

The Kenai Peninsula has an interesting past enriched by farming and fishing, it is home to several Alaska Native tribes and Orthodox Russians villages. The Kenai Peninsula is home to two of the largest lakes in the state. Skilak lake the smaller being 25,000 acres or 15 miles long and 4 miles wide and resides between Sterling and Cooper Landing and Tustumena Lake the larger at 73,000 acres, 25 miles long and 6 miles wide located east of Kasilof. Each lake is so large they create their own weather systems and are know to be dangerous at times. Both lakes have a Caribou Island. Tourism and Fishing currently drive the local economy.

Location

This neighborhood is located about 6 miles from Soldotna and the nearest Hospital. Soldotna is home to our Sports Center where the local Brown Bears hockey team calls home, there are several parks to choose from weather you just want to stroll along a nice river trail, let the kids run loose and play on the structures or treat your furry four legged to  a play day. Soldotna also has many local and box stores for all your shopping needs. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from for all dining experiences. If you’re more of the adventurous type take the hour drive south to Homer the “Halibut Fishing Capital” and swing in to any of the other small communities along the way and enjoy the other local options.
