Recreation

Ninilchik is conveniently located between Homer, the Halibut fishing capital and the Kachemak bay, and Soldotna with the famous Kenai river. No matter the direction you take you will find the best recreating Alaska has to offer. Fishing is guaranteed adventures weather you want to lake, river or deep water fish the options seem almost unlimited. From Homer harbor you can adventure up the Kachemak bay, or head out Cook inlet to Lake Clark National Park and Preserve area or the famous Katmai National Park and Preserve. The Kachemak bay area is home to some of the neatest villages for exploring such as Seldovia and Halibut Cove. Take one of the many fishing charters, fly outs or adventure tours offered. If you want to stick closer to home Ninilchik offers Deep Creek beach tractor launch to access the Cook inlet. Deep Creek beach offers beach and Creek access. Two additional public access points to Deep Creek. The old Ninilchik Village offers access to the beach and the Ninilchik river, with additional river access across the highway. If camping is more your style you can enjoy one of the designated areas or adventure up to the hills and get back to nature in remote/primitive areas.  If you head north, there is several other areas to access the beach in Clam Gulch and Kasilof. In Kasilof you have access to Tustumena lake via the Kasilof river, or Johnson & Centennial lakes. Access to the Caribou Hills recreation area and trial can be done from the Centennial lake and Clam Gulch area which covers hundreds of miles of recreational trails, From Kasilof you can continue on to Soldotna, the Kenai river & the communities beyond or cruise along Kalifornsky beach road for some of the best views the peninsula offers and head in to the quaint town of Kenai for many additional adventures. Recreation on the Kenai Peninsula is unparalleled to anything else. Ninilchik is also home to the famous “Salmon Fest” and ” Sacred Acres” festivals and the Kenai Peninsula fair.

Agriculture

Though this property is not generally suited for agricultural uses it may have potential for a small greenhouse business or personal use crops or farming. The only restrictions are dog teams and or kennels.

Water/Mineral Rights & Natural Resources

Alaska is a water is a right state so you do not have to apply for water rights certificate unless you plan to use it commercially and/or more than 500 gallons a day. Region & Climate

The Ninilchik area tends to be a bit more on the temperate side during the winter it is generally warmer and gets less snow than other areas more north on the peninsula. Summer temperatures tend to be a bit cooler with the breezy ocean air more consistent with a coastal climate. Traditionally more rain falls in this area as well.

History

This property was purchased to be a family summer get-away. Unfortunately the sellers aged out before they could see the property to its full potential.
The history of Ninilchik is rooted in Russian and Indigenous Alaskan traditions. Ninilchik is home to one of the few Orthodox Russian churches and the Ninilchik village was the original settlement area at the mouth of the Ninilchik river. Fishing and farming were a big part of the growth of this area. Modern day Ninilchik consists of dining, shopping and charter services and is home to the Ninilchik tribal council organization.

Location

This property is located approximately 1/2 mile from the Sterling Hwy and is on borough maintained roads for easy year round access. Six and a half miles from the heart of Ninilchik, 36 miles from the Soldotna ‘Y’ and 24 miles to the Homer airport & Spit. The Keani airport is approximately 38 miles away. There are several shopping options between the 3 towns for all your needs. Ninilchik is home to a medical and dental clinic provide for health care and a K-12 School. Soldotna and Homer both have hospitals and other health clinics as well.
