Recreation

Nikiski is in the path of some of the best recreating areas on the peninsula. Nikiski has multiple beach access points with Captain Cook park and campground being the most commonly used. Besides beach combing, and fishing, you can ride ATVs or 4×4 vehicles for miles up the beach to Point Possession. One could also follow the Spur Hwy extension to the vast trail system at the “end of the North Rd.” and get lost in some of the best moose hunting land on the peninsula. The Nikiski area is also home to several fishable lakes that are teeming with landlocked Salmon, Rainbow trout, Greyling and Burbot fish. If your more of the adventurous water farer you may want to float/kayak the Swanson River drainage starting from Sterling.

Water/Mineral Rights & Natural Resources

No water rights have been drawn on this property but do not need to be unless you plan a commercial operation or plan to utilize more than 500 gal per day. Mineral rights are limited to surface gravel which can be utilized as a “personal use” pit or you can apply for a “counter permit” to harvest the materials to the fullest extent. Region & Climate

The Nikiski area has its own microclimate that tends to be more in line with a coastal area with slightly cooler temperatures and more winds than some of the inland areas. In the winter this area can get a bit more snow pack than other areas on the peninsula.

History

Nikiski is mostly an industrial area heavily driven by the oil industry. Nikiski is a incorporated census designated area.

Location

This property is located about 2 miles from the Spur Hwy. and 4 miles from the heart of Nikiski. Here you will find a gas station, a small market, two “local watering holes” a post office, a handful of local shops and eateries, a community center and home to K-12 schools. Nikiski is located about 16 miles from Kenai, and the Kenai airport. The city of Kenai is home to our local big box stores Home Depot, Walmart and Safeway, mixed in is several local business including a Three Bears Store & Gas station, an IGA grocery store, a movie theater and many more shopping, dining and entertainment venues. Soldotna and the Hospital are approximately 11 miles from Kenai.
