Here is an amazing opportunity to buy a lifetime membership into one of the most prestigious duck clubs in the Illinois River Valley.  Established in 1902, this club has a tremendous amount of history that only adds to its allure as one of the most renowned waterfowl clubs in Illinois.  Its located north of Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area, straight East of Anderson Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, and south of Emiquon and Chautauqua Wildlife refuges.  This part of the Illinois River has always been a waterfowl hunters dream.  Two of the islands’ lakes (Jack and Grass) are counted in the weekly aerial survey.  It is not uncommon for this island to hold 30-50,000 ducks during the fall migration and 100’s of thousands to be in the area.
 
There is no doubt that managing a 4100-acre Island takes a tremendous amount of time, money, and energy.  There is an annual assessment of $25,000 per member to help facilitate the upkeep and management of the island. They have a full-time caretaker on staff to maintain the infrastructure and put in the work necessary to keep this club operating at optimal performance. The caretaker handles all the draw-down of the “marsh”, planting, pumping, and day to day tasks around the club.  Members only need to show up and enjoy the hunting.
 
The “marsh”, as it is known to the members is a series of Illinois River back-water lakes, sloughs, and impoundments with a series of control structures and pump systems that allows for the marsh to be drained at strategic times to plant millet and allow for an abundant amount of natural vegetation to grow to ensure plenty of food to be flooded each fall for migrating waterfowl.

The club house sits on the banks of the “Marsh” with tremendous views of ducks coming in each evening.  The club house is equipped to handle several members and guests.  The hunting pressure is minimum and usually no more than 3-4 groups hunt the club on the same day.  Many times, members will have the entire club all to themselves.  After breakfast each morning, members have a simple walk to get in their boat to hunt makeshift blinds, buckbrush, and timber holes throughout the marsh. 
 
It’s certainly easy to focus on the waterfowl opportunities on this property but the deer and turkey hunting can also be first class. Food plots are planted annually to help hold deer and turkeys on the property, very few of the members currently use the property for this purpose which makes for some outstanding low-pressure hunting.
