Hogback Hunting Ranch

The 790+/- deeded acre Hogback Hunting Ranch sits on the west slope of the Grand Hogback, a regional landmark along the western flank of the Flat Tops Mountain Range known for trophy mule deer and excellent elk hunting. It is a complete, ready-to-use offering with year-round access and on-site hunting of a caliber that is difficult to replicate on a property of this size.

Bordering BLM and private lands, the ranch's mountain slopes drop into ridges that separate three large valleys and numerous draws. Aspen stands and slopes of Gambel's oak, serviceberry and chokecherry provide outstanding wildlife habitat, while the valley floors are planted in dryland hay. Rock outcrops and spines are found throughout the property and well-placed drinkers and a pond supply water for wildlife.

Located in Colorado's Game Management Unit (GMU) 23, the ranch offers September archery elk and deer hunting and quality hunting throughout the rifle seasons. Resident game is supplemented throughout the fall by migrating deer and elk. It is worth noting that the Meeker area is home to the largest migratory elk herd in North America. Unlike properties that depend on ideal migration conditions, this ranch hunts well from the September elk rut through the November mule deer rut. Mule deer scoring over 200 inches have been harvested here. After years of commercial hunting, the ranch has rested with minimal hunting for the past two years.

The ranch house with attached garage suits full-time living or hosting guests and hunters. It includes a master bedroom with an en-suite bath, two additional bedrooms, a second bath, and an upstairs bunk room. The main level opens into a large living and dining area with a fireplace and vaulted ceiling. The ranch fronts Highway 13, 15 miles south of Meeker and 27 miles north of Rifle and I-70. Each town has an FBO and runway suitable for most private aircraft.
